Suds & Planning Requirements for your Driveway

A sustainable drainage system (SuDs, SuDS, SUDS) is designed to reduce the potential impact of new and existing developments with respect to surface water drainage discharges.

Specific rules apply for householders wanting to pave over their front gardens.

You will not need planning permission if a new or replacement driveway of any size uses permeable (or porous) surfacing which allows water to drain through, such as gravel, permeable concrete block paving or porous asphalt, or if the rainwater is directed to a lawn or border to drain naturally.

If the surface to be covered is more than five square metres planning permission will be needed for laying traditional, impermeable driveways that do not provide for the water to run to a permeable area.

Block Paved Driveways offer you a wide variety of styles, sizes, textures and colours in both permeable and traditional Blocks.

Do you offer a guarantee?

We offer a minimum guarantee for all the work we do of 12 months and on driveways, this can be as much as 10 years depending on the surface you are having.

How long will it take to deliver the work?

Most driveways are completed in less than a week.

Is planning permission required?

Planning Permission is not normally required unless you are having a completely new driveway installed and you live on what is termed a Classified Road eg A,B or C roads. Kandap Ltd can advise you of the need for Planning Permission when we do our free of charge site survey.
